What could possibly compete with the First New York Burlesque
Festival–that is, besides the unique spectacle of cigarette
butts and pigeons? Fortunately, the fest brings in burlesque
acts from outside New York, which saves the event from doubling
as a tattoo convention. There’s even a nice sense of event
when the festival closes with a Sunday brunch performance
at the lovely Marquee at Marion’s. Vivian VaVoom’s slinky
snake routine makes her a fine ambassador for Colorado, while
some older dame provides mature-school magic. She almost distracts
me from this gorgeous blonde in her 50s at the next table
who keeps adjusting her sweater.........
